Mixed Chicks History Month – Jessica Ennis

by Linda Ripoll in News on 6th December 2013

In honor of May being Mixed Chicks History Month, we will be posting some of our favorite mixed race figures throughout history on a daily basis.

One of our first favorites is a contemporary mixed race figure. Her name is Jessica Ennis and she is the current Olympic gold medalist in the heptathlon. Born and raised in Sheffield, England, Ennis is the product of a Jamaican father and English mother. She excelled in athletics from an early age and has never looked back. She was the face of the 2012 Summer Olympics in London and is currently competing in several world competitions! Go Jessica!

In support of “MIXED CHICKS HISTORY MONTH”, a Mixed Chicks Sweepstakes has been created. Fans will have the chance to win by posting their own inspirational stories and pictures of people who are iconic to them. Via social media outlets including Twitter and Instagram, one winner will be chosen weekly and will receive a gift sent personally from Mixed Chicks.

Whether it’d be a family member, teacher, TV personality, or a celebrity, post your story and/or picture of your favorite mixed race person you admire. You can upload your posts on Facebook, Twitter or Instagram. BE SURE TO INCLUDE YOUR TWITTER AND/OR INSTAGRAM HANDLE TO BE ELIGIBLE TO WIN.
