Our Black History person of distinction today is Donna Marie Cheek, the first black female equestrian to become a member of the U.S. Equestrian Team. In 1981, Cheek broke the color barrier to become one of the team’s premier hunter/jumper competitors.
With over 42 years’ experience in the world of competitive horses, she is highly regarded for her passion and expertise. Even though she no longer competes, she is one of the leading voices on horse care and training in the industry.
We salute Donna Marie Cheek for being a leader in her field and an inspiration to girls and women of all races and backgrounds!
